Touro is a middleweight combat robot that has won a lot of medals for our team and has always been an excellent project. In 2014, we needed to upgrade its design to a more versatile one. We needed to be able to utilize more accessories and better accommodate new components inside of it.
I was responsible for the design of the most dramatic change, the new interface for it’s accessories. In the picture, we can observe that our newest version had two tower type components at the front of the robot. That allowed us to minimize the total weight giving us the freedom of utilizing more types of accessories. I also helped redesign the drum of both robots.
Our newest version was very successful, winning a gold medal at Robogames in 2015, and a bronze medal at STEM Tech Olympiad in 2014. Both robots also got gold and bronze medals at Brazil’s biggest combat robot competition, Winter Challenge, in 2014.
